Broaden my horizons

Good morning!  I am very excited to learn a new technique today.  My friend, Kim from moonwhispers, is teaching a class.  Here is a link to her shop.

The class is Painting on Cotton.  Yikes!  It is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I would love to broaden my horizons.  It is always good to have another tool, right?  The class is at LizbQuilting in Stafford, VA. (  Check out Liz's blog!

Here is Kim's latest project.

Amazing!  I love the vibrant colors she chose.  I don't think mine will look nearly as good, but I'm willing to give it a try.  Here is another picture.

If you enjoy reading my thoughts, please share with your friends.

I hope you have a creative adventure today!  I know I will.  : )

  1. You were up so late/early this morning, Anne!! ;) Guess it is a good thing the class starts so late- LOL! I am really looking forward to this- it is so easy and so fun- you let the colors do the magic, and you get to watch! And THEN you get to feature it in a quilt-- or whatever you want! It seems cotton is more versatile than silk, in this manner... Unless you want to wear it. Then silk is Queen!

  2. Beautiful! And congrats on continually learning. I promote that all of the time, as I think learning is what keeps us young and open to new ideas. Kim,I think some people use silk in crazy quilts and art quilts? I don't think it's real practical for patchworks, but I think I've seen it featured. I prefer cotton myself though!

  3. Kim, I am so excited to try this! Tammy, I always love learning new things. That is what I love about quilting. There is so much to try! Kim's scarves are amazing! I would agree about using cotton for quilting, though. I think silk is too delicate to be used in quilts. I don't know about you, but I like to use my quilts. They need to be sturdy enough to last!
